I've written about how the Raspberry Pi 4 needs a fan, and more recently how it might not.īut I realized, I've done a lot of testing for my own needs, but never compiled them into one concise post. The 3 model B+ was the first generation that had me concerned more about cooling (the CPU gets hot!), and the Pi 4's slightly increased performance made that problem even more apparent, as most of my heavier projects resulted in CPU throttling.     It is very easy to set up the WiFi just after you download piCorePlayer to the SD card. Notice that the Pi is held in place by a piece of plastic that came with the SmartiPi.   • I cut holes in the back of the case using a cheap, Dremel-style, tool.

  • Install the power cables for the fan to the screen (step 1 of the SmartiPi instructions) even if you do not intend to use them immediately.
